The project BioPro Refinery, carried out by Biosostenibilidad Proteica with an investment of 194.272,95€, is part of the Participatory Local Development Strategy of the “Local Action Group for Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Region of Murcia (GALPEMUR)” and is co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (FEMPA) at 70% and by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia (CARM) at 30%.
One of the major environmental issues we have today is overfishing. Currently, 70% of fishmeal and 75% of fish oil is used as farmed fish feed. Our insect protein is the perfect alternative, providing essential nutrition to the fish farms without the environmental impact. We are working alongside Galpemur, Región de Murcia, Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación and the European Union to make this idea a reality.
